Through research on the following hot topics: a major DOJ-led anti-scam operation with Coinbase, SpaceX, and Meta froze $3.8M and led to 63 arrests; Immunefi reports DeFi exploit losses down 74% from 2022 highs; fake health refund emails and investment scam chat groups are circulating; and Instagram AI vulnerabilities remain exploitable despite Meta's fix claims.
My take: the DOJ operation is a rare win, but the Instagram AI issue shows security theater is still rampant. Public sentiment is cautiously optimistic about enforcement but deeply skeptical of big tech's ability to patch holes. I predict more coordinated crackdowns on crypto scams, but user-side vigilance will remain the weak link. People feel safer with arrests, but tired of constant new schemes.
